Car finishes have improved a lot since the era of Earl Scheib and the $29.95 paint job for a passenger car. The advantages of today's finishes are such improvements over the finishes of the past. In the post war (1946+) automotive paints were extremely labor intensive for a high gloss and durable finish. Protecting these finishes also was time consuming and labor intensive, at least annually, to maintain the great look.
New technology has greatly improved the ease to apply and polish modern automotive finishes. Most cars are 'clear coated' to protect the paint and allow for a better longer lasting look. Factors like the exposure to UV from the Sun or corrosive air exposure (salt air near the ocean or in fallout zones near factories) make a difference in the amount of maintenance required to keep the new look.
Traditional wax like 'Carnauba' and 'Polymer' coatings require buffing to get the glossy polished look. New 'Ceramic' and 'Graphene' technology is being developed at a fast pace. Having our own vehicles, we experiment with different products and practically run our own testing lab.
We are trying to put together a KIT of products for car enthusiasts and want to make sure we hit a good product list with a good value proposition (PRICE). So far we've come up with:
Bucket,
Shampoo (High Foam),
Microfiber Polish cloth,
Ceramic spray,
'StreakFree' nano-microfiber cloth,
Interior cleaner spray
This preliminary kit would sell for $49 when bundled and retail value at $79.
We'd like to know what other items are important for your car care kit?
Please email us at 1948sedandelivery@gmail.com with your ideas and suggestions. For those who reply, we will send you a special coupon and bonus if we add your suggestion to our kit as we plan to market the kits at car shows in 2025.
